Crossrail joins London’s Open House weekend

Work on Crossrail stations at Bond Street and Canary Wharf will come under public scrutiny this weekend as the construction sites join in the London Open House initiative.

The ballot to get tickets to see the Canary Wharf scheme up close have now closed, but tours of the work at Bond Street will be on a first come, first served basis. Visitors to the hourly tours at Bond Street, that will run on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September between 10am and 5pm, will be given a presentation of the overall project followed by a bird’s eye view of the new ticket halls.

Crossrail will also be opening up its Tunnelling and Underground Construction Academy in Ilford for tours on both days between 10.30am and 3.30pm. As well as presentations about the building’s design, visitors will learn about the legacy for construction skills that the academy will deliver.
