Crane jib collapses on East London tower development

The jib of a crane yesterday collapsed on a residential tower development in East London.

Nobody was injured as the crane driver was able to manoeuvre the crane so the load fell into a nearby canal on the 21 Wapping Lane development, an 18-storey residential tower near Shadwell.

Ballymore is the developer working on the site with Essex Services Group as its contractor.

The development is primarily residential but also includes shops and leisure and recreation facilities.
