The steel frame for the flat disc-like roof on Athens' new 8,500 seat Olympic tennis centre court is taking shape on the north east side of the Olympic Athletic Centre. Joint venture contractor Diektat-Intracom Constructions is carrying out the $65M tennis centre contract which is due to finish in November this year in time for test events for the August 2004 Games. Client the Greek Ministry of Culture estimates the complex to be 79% complete. Aside from the main court there will be two other tennis stadia for 4,200 and 2,000 spectators respectively. There will also be 13 other practice and playoff courts.
