You reported that the Highways Agency had problems with the new electronic accounting system, which resulted in us missing our targets for paying invoices promptly for the second year running (NCE last week).
I am delighted to tell you that we have now resolved this problem. In October we paid 99.49% of all invoices within terms. In the seven months to the end of October, we paid 98.21% of all invoices within terms.
In addition, we pay a significant volume of suppliers - mainly small suppliers - using the government procurement card and all these payments are made on time.
We are determined to make yet more improvements so that all our invoices are paid within terms and to time.
