Council freezes retired subs and reviews services

Institution news

SUBSCRIPTIONS FOR retired members will be frozen at ú35 for 2003, ICE Council agreed earlier this month.

Council also voted for a substantive review of the services provided to retired and international members with a view to making changes in time for 2004.

The original proposal set before Council was to raise retired rates (excluding NCE) to ú41 in 2003. However, a final decision was deferred until June.

Pegging the rate back will cost the Institution an estimated ú46,000 in lost income. Subscriptions for other grades of membership will rise by levels already agreed.

Council also agreed that the minimum age for retired members should remain at 60, but that the director general should be permitted to exercise discretion in considering applications from members below this age.
