Council call announcement

THE TIME to stand for election to ICE Council, or nominate candidates, is fast approaching. Eight members will be retiring from the Council in November 1999.

The vacancies must be filled by a minimum of one Fellow, four Members, and one Associate Member who is an Incorporated Engineer. The remaining two may be either Fellows or Members.

Any five corporate members, but not more than five, may nominate a Fellow or a Member for inclusion in the ballot list under bylaw 69. Any five corporate or Associate Members who are Incorporated Engineers, may nominate an Associate Member who is an Incorporated Engineer. These nominations must be made on forms obtainable from the Council office at Great George Street, tel: (0171) 665 2077-8, and must be signed by the nominee. No member may support more than one nomination.

All nomination forms must be returned to the Council office by 10 November.

Territorial members representing the following local associations will also be retiring, and there will be separate ballots to elect their successors in the East Midlands, Northern Counties, Midlands, South Eastern and South Wales. Local associations have already been asked to nominate candidates.

All members elected will serve for three years from November 1999. Those considering standing for election should remember that the Council holds six meetings a year, and that the obligations of Council membership also include appointments to various committees, engineering boards and panels.
