Costain wins major North West road project

Costain has won a £102M roads scheme in Cheshire.

The contractor will deliver major improvements to a stretch of the A556 that links two motorways.

A 6.5km dual carriageway will be created between the M56 junction 7 and the M6 junction 19.

Costain has already provided services on this project under an early contractor involvement (ECI) arrangement, and will start construction work this month.

The link road is expected to open by April 2017.

Costain chief executive Andrew Wyllie said: “We are delighted to have secured the delivery phase of this vital scheme, following our successful work during the ECI phase in providing specialist design consultation and securing planning approval.

“This award is further demonstration of the importance to Costain of long-term, strategic partnerships with our customers, and our ability to deliver a range of innovative integrated services.”
