Costain Skanska win Crossrail Bond Street contract

Crossrail has awarded its final main construction contract for the new central section stations today to Costain Skanska joint venture (JV) for the Bond Street worth £200M.

Costain Skanska JV beat off competition from Laing O’Rourke and Lend Lease for the contract. The firm is already underway with the advanced works contract C411 starting in March 2011.

The latest contract C412 includes main construction, fit-out and mechanical and electrical services for the western ticket hall on Davies Street and eastern ticket hall on Hanover Square.

“Contracts worth over £5bn have been awarded to-date, providing a much needed boost to the construction industry and the UK economy,” said Crossrail chief executive Andrew Wolstenholme.

“The Bond Street Crossrail station contract will create hundreds of new jobs with hundreds more created in the wider supply chain.”

Costain Skanska JV will create eleven apprentices as part of the contract.
