Costain powers towards £1bn for 2014

Costain has secured almost £1bn revenue for this year, it told the City this morning.

The contractor, which posted revenue of £960M for 2013, this morning said it was already at £950M for 2014.

It came in a brief statement ahead of Costain’s half-year results announcement on 21 August.

The contractor said it remained on course to deliver a result for the calendar year in line with the board’s expectations.

Costain said it had maintained a record order book of £3.2bn, up from £3.0bn at the end of last year.

Work won in the past six months includes the Crossrail North East Spur and a Barrow Gas Terminals deal for Centrica.

Costain has also been appointed to Network Rail’s electrification programme and three National Grid transmission frameworks.
