Costain order book grows

Contractor Costainhas increased forward orders and accrued more than £100M in cash, according to its latest trading statement.

The group remains focused on the capital programmes of large clients where work must be carried out to meet regulatory or legal requirements.

Costain’s forward order book has increased to a record £2.7bn, up from £2.5bn at on 30 June 2009.

Projects include:

  • an extension to its current 5-year AMP4 framework contract with United Utilities worth £170M;
  • a £297M contract for Sellafield for the Evaporator D project extending the project from the original planning into the delivery phase; and
  • Bradford Schools Phase 2 PFI, in joint venture, valued at £230M

The group is preferred bidder in more than £400M of projects and has revenues for 2010 of more than £800M.
