Cooling Prize competition deadline extended

The deadline for entries to this year's BGA Cooling Prize competition has been extended to 10 February. The competition is open to student, associate or chartered members of the ICE or members of the BGA under the age of 30 on 31 December 2006.

Papers can be on any topic dealing with engineering behaviour of the ground, including industrial design or construction projects, development of a new piece of equipment or research. Finalists will present their papers at an event hosted by the Yorkshire Geotechnical Group on 14 March at 5.45pm at Leeds University.

Judging will take place while consultant Bob Essler gives a presentation on Amsterdam's North-South Metro project.
