Cooling call

SUBMISSIONS FOR the 1999 Cooling Prize are now being invited. The prestigious award organised annually by the BGS and open to geotechnical engineers under the age 27 will be presented on 23 February 1999 at the University of Leeds. The winning paper will be published in Ground Engineering and there is a cash prize and a BGS sponsored trip to attend the European Young Geotechnical Engineers' conference next year. Papers should be less than 2,000 words and should be sent by 31 December 1998 to Grace Chen at the ICE, 1 Great George Street, London SW1P 3AA.
