Contracts for the privately financed upgrade of London Underground's Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly Lines are expected to be signed by the end of the month, spokesmen for the Department for Transport, London Underground and preferred bidder Tubelines said this week.

Talks over the possibility of a late legal challenge to the project from London Mayor Ken Livingstone forced them to put back the hoped for December 7 signing date (see feature P12)
