Contracts up for grabs at Stansted

Building contractors have been given the opportunity to bid for three-year, multimillion-pound contracts at Stansted Airport.

Airport operator BAA said it plans to appoint two main contractors for the programme of minor project work, which will run from April 2011 to 2013.

There will also be an option to extend the framework for an additional 12 months.

No job package will be worth more than £5M under the minor work framework.

Companies interested have until 29 October to complete Pre Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs), which can be found at www.airportsmart.com.

To prequalify, contractors must have a turnover above £8M and be able to demonstrate a track record of working on projects up to £2M in value, along with a clean accident record.

Firms will also have to submit suitable parent company guarantees or provide a performance bond.
