Contractor John Laing has won a £28M contract to modernise three airports in the Republic of Uzbekistan in joint venture with Alarko Alsim of Turkey and Marubeni Corporation of Japan. The contract, involving upgrading air traffic control equipment, runways and taxiways plus refurbishment of terminal buildings, starts in October and runs until mid-2000.
