Contractor Carillion has scooped a £130M contract to design, build finance and operate the A249, from the M2 motorway to Sheerness Port in Kent. The job, for the Highways Agency, involves managing 17.5km of existing road and construction of 5km of new roads, including a 1.25km viaduct over the River Swale.
