Contract wins for Costain's transport and water sectors

Contractor Costain has won a £102M roads project in Northern Ireland and a £27M water contract in Derbyshire .

Costain’s Northern Ireland contract win is for a design build project to dual the A8 road between Belfast and Larne for Northern Ireland Roads Service. Costain has won the contract as part of a joint venture with contractors Lagan Construction and Ferrovial Agroman. The award follows the successful completion of the early contractor lnvolvement (ECI) phase of the scheme.

Severn Trent Water has also selected Costain as preferred bidder to replace its service reservoir at Fritchley, near Ambergate in Derbyshire, worth £27M.

Ambergate reservoir is a key strategic reservoir for Severn Trent Water, supplying mains water to about 590,000 customers. The scheme will see the construction of two covered reservoirs of 90M.l and 50M.l capacity, replacing the existing 128M.l reservoir.
