Consultation for instrumentation standard launched

Draft standards for the geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring industry have been put out for public consultation by BSI.

The document - prEN ISO 18674 “Geotechnical investigation and testing - Geotechnical monitoring by field instrumentation - General rules” is expected to be the first of seven covering the sector.

It covers general standards for use of instrumentation and monitoring in connection with site investigation, observational design procedures, ground behaviour evaluation and the evaluation and control of geotechnical works. The first document covers topics including installation, reporting of background and monitoring data, coordination of systems and notation.

The draft can be viewed by logging onto http://drafts.bsigroup.com/Home/Details/51363. All comments must be submitted by 8 December 2013.
