Construction workers killed in West Sussex

Two construction workers were killed in West Sussex last Friday when a crane collapsed as it was being dismantled. Steven Boatman and Gary Miles were employed by crane supplier WD Bennett on the £10M Highdown School and Community Centre project in Worthing. Main contractor is Wilmot Dixon. It is thought that the collapse happened during a routine dismantling operation, in which one crane was being used to take down another. The second crane was damaged in the incident and was demolished by a controlled explosion on Sunday. The Health & Safety Executive and police are carrying out a joint investigation.
