Construction sites are as safe as they'll ever be

Letters

Last week's 'NCE500' question asked whether respondents agreed that construction sites are as safe as they'll ever be.

I had to think long and hard before I gave a 'yes' or 'no' answer, but I think the answer is a resounding 'yes'. Some contractors run a very tight ship and do everything possible to ensure that sites are as safe as is reasonably practicable.

These sites are probably as safe as they will ever be.

Some contractors still cling to arcane working practices and pay only lip service to safety and, regrettably, these sites are probably also 'as safe as they will ever be'.
