Construction of the second runway at Manchester Airport

Nearly 1.5Mt of limestone needed for the construction of the second runway at Manchester Airport will be delivered along a new rail freight link opened by Minister of Transport Gavin Strang last month. Partly funded by a government grant of £2.2M, the link is expected to save 70,000 lorry journeys a year between the airport and the quarries in Derby- shire.
