Constructing Excellence launches Infrastructure Forum

News - Civils 2006

BEST PRACTICE body Constructing Excellence has launched a new group at Civils 2006. The Infrastructure Forum will represent the entire civil engineering, transportation and utilities sector 'We believe we can take the function of an independent think-tank and stand for clients and suppliers working together for the good of the industry, ' said Constructing Excellence chief operating officer Don Wa rd .

Chairman of the new organisation is Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering managing director Andrew McNaughton. 'Unlike other trade bodies this is cross party and cross industry, representing contractors, clients and the people, ' he said.

'Our agenda will be strategic, we don't want to focus too hard on the nuts and bolts.' The forum will have five key objectives: to ensure longterm strategic planning in the industry; improve supply chain integration and procurement; tackle people and skills shortages; tackle waste and encourage innovation.
