Colas/URS scoops £400M rail deal

A joint venture of Colas and URS has secured £400M of switches and crossings work from Network Rail.

The partnership was awarded a 10-year deal by Network Rail to carry out renewals across the South of England and Wales.

Work over the first half of the contract forms part of Network Rail’s track renewals programme for the 2014-19 spending period..

Network Rail track programme director Steve Featherstone said: “There are 1M more trains on our network than a decade ago, and that number increases every year.

“We look forward to working with Colas URS to help deliver a massive programme of work to maintain, renew and enhance the railway across southern England and Wales over the next five years, with the goal of providing a more reliable railway for passengers and freight.”
