Coffey buys Australian remediation firm


COFFEY INTERNATIONAL has acquired IT Environmental of Australia for AUS $6M (£2.4M).

IT Environmental is a big player in remediation of contaminated land and groundwater in Australia, employing 150 staff.

Coffey International managing director Roger Olds said: 'Strategically, it brings us access to key clients, including oil companies with sizable contracts in South East Asia, and potential for growth in Central Asia and the Middle East.'

Coffey International covers Coffey Geosciences, Control Testing Laboratories, Water Studies and Soil & Rock Engineering, and the International Development Business, consisting of SAGRIC International, Coffey MPW and Landmarc.

The firm expects to add about £8M a year to its turnover.
