Coastal defences scheme in Brighton has been delayed

An £11M coastal defences scheme in Brighton has been delayed three months. The 18month project to strengthen 1.9km of sea defences along the Undercliff between Brighton Marina and Ovingdean was scheduled for completion this summer (NCE 17 April 2003). A Brighton & Hove Council spokesman said unexpected complexities mean the Undercliff will not be re-opened to the public until October.
