Clyde Calamity

I read with interest the article on the replacement of the hangers on the Clyde Arc (NCE 8 May).

It was sad to read that the CDM regulations in relation to maintenance had been ignored during design as it would appear that methodologies for bridge maintenance weren't contained within the health and safety file. A very sad story indeed.
