THE STREETS of Madrid south of the Torre Windsor have been clogged with thousands of additional commuters as people struggle to find alternative routes into and out of the city.
Three metro stations and a main line train station have been closed down for fear that the building could collapse and crush rail tunnels.
Nearby shops and businesses have also been forced to close as the city council declared a 500m clearance zone around the structure.
Engineers were expected to enter the building to asses its stability and decide if the no go area can be reduced.
Until then, one of the city's key through roads, the Calle Raimundo Fernandez, and two of its busiest shopping centres remain closed.
