Clarke to head new CIC safety committee

Atkins chief executive Keith Clarke has been appointed chairman a new Construction Industry Council Health and Safety Committee.
The new committee will take on board the representation of the sector at the Health and Safety Executive and through membership of the Construction Industry Advisory Committee (CONIAC). It will be the focal point for the implementation of the revised CDM regulations early next year and will provide guidance to the profession. Clarke warned the industry 'safety is not about policing but about behaviour and there must be a broad and deep consensus that unsafe sites or activities are unacceptable in any circumstances.'
