The prototype unreinforced precast concrete arch system described in NCE last week bears no structural relationship to the reinforced concrete arch sections supplied to the Gerrards Cross project. The uneven backfilling test described is part of the long term development of the system by Macrete and Queen's University Belfast. There is no suggestion that the Macrete units used at Gerrards Cross did not fully comply with the customer's specification.
