Civils press for chief engineering advisor

ICE news

Over 75% of civil engineers want an independent chief engineering advisor, an ICE survey revealed last week.

The survey is part of a study into civil engineers' views on key UK engineering topics which will be released at next week's ICE presidential conference.

ICE president Douglas Oakervee said that the results supported the ICE call for 'a high level representative to lead the continuous improvement of the UK's infrastructure and overcome the stop-start, short term fixes of recent years'.

'Planning, developing and maintaining the nation's infrastructure requires a long term perspective, beyond the life of a single parliament, ' he added.
