Civils can manage

Just what is it that Simon Murray (Railtrack) thinks civil engineers do (NCE last week)?

The last sewage works project that I worked on involved the management of 17 contractors over a nine year period to a financial programme set by a local authority which was amended year on year to reflect their current priorities.

If this is not about 'co-ordinating an array of many projects', and trying to do it to time and budget, I don't know what is. I am sure that most other civil engineers will have similar experience.
