Civils 98 is 'best new show'

CIVILS 98 - the industry event hosted by NCE in Birmingham this May - has been named 'Best new exhibition' in the 1998 Marketing Event Awards.

MEA is the UK's most prestigious event awards night. Award for the 'Best live event', for example, went to the Hong Kong hand- over ceremony.

Judges were impressed by the way in which the organiser of Civils 98 - NCE's publisher Emap Construct - created a top quality show that attracted high calibre, enthusiastic visitors and exhibitors.

Real business was done at the event - a fact that was borne out by the extraordinary sales figures for the next Civils show in 2000. Over 98% of the exhibition space was booked by the last day of Civils 98 which has prompted the 2000 show to move to bigger halls at the NEC.

The expanded Civils 2000 is being formally launched on 16 October at the Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre in London and on 20 October at the NEC in Birmingham. The events will be part of the major launch for the revamped Interbuild which will run alongside Civils. Over 1,000 potential exhibitors are expected to attend the presentations.
