Ciria in merger talks

THREE CONSTRUCTION industry bodies are considering a merger.

Constructing Excellence, Be (Collaborating for the Built Environment) and Ciria already work together on a regular basis.

'On the face of it there is considerable potential synergy between our three organisations, with little overlap, ' said Ciria chief executive Tim Broyd.'By acting alone, however, we are presenting a confusing picture that prevents us providing best value to industry and government alike.'

Be chief executive Don Ward added: 'All three organisations share a common vision of the future industry but contribute to it in different ways, so if we can explore closer ties and remove perceived duplication then it can only speed up the change process.'

Constructing Excellence chief executive Dennis Lenard said: 'There is an opportunity to maximise the outcomes from these investments to become the world's best construction business improvement group.
