CIC video aims to tempt teenagers

CONSTRUCTION'S BATTLE to attract young people has a new weapon in the form of a schools' video by the Construction Industry Council.

The 30 minute film, called Building Visions, is aimed at 14 to 18 year olds. It stresses the diversity of the industry by using six young role models to explain the different career options available including civil engineering, structural engineering, architecture, quantity surveying, project management and building services design.

The video was enthusiastically launched by Stanhope director and chairman of the Strategic Forum for Construction Peter Rogers last week. 'Not only does this video show you how exciting this industry is, but better still it shows the vibrancy of the people in it, ' he said.

CIC has produced 5,000 copies of the video and these are now available free for schools. However, CIC hopes that wherever possible, videos will be accompanied by a construction professional to take questions after it is played.

INFOPLUS Copies of the video are free to schools. If you would like a copy for your local school, or want more information email your name, address, contact number and school to buildingvisions@construct. emap. com
