Chinn up for roads contractors

Mott MacDonald chief Richard Chinn has been named chairman of trade body the Highways Term Maintenance Association.

Chinn, director of integrated highways services at the engineering consultant, begins a two-year stint at the helm of the HTMA, which represents many large roads contractors.

He has been involved with the association since its inception in 2005, most recently acting as vice-chairman.

Chinn said: “The Association has grown to 29 members and nine associate members, and our influence within the industry is spreading.

“Collectively we have a strong voice and can make a real impact. We have much to offer in terms of skills, knowledge and experience for the sustainability of highways maintenance and management.”

Chinn replaces Balfour Beatty director for new business Tony Gates as chairman. Gates remains as an ex-officio member of the executive board for 12 months.
