The Institution of Civil Engineers last week organised a bridge building demonstration to introduce children to the world of civil engineering.

Children from Merseyside primary schools assembled a 3m span suspension bridge that came in kit form. The kit, designed by the civil engineering department at Liverpool John Moores University, is intended to encourage team building skills and give children an awareness of civil engineering.

The event took place at Liverpool's Waterfront Heritage Centre at the Albert Dock, and was hosted by National Museums and Galleries on Merseyside (NMGM).
