CHEQUE CALL: Winner of the James Rennie Medal, Patrick Bow, stands side by side with succeeding vice president Roger Sainsbury. Bow received a pounds500 cheque for his report 'The Northumbrian sea outfalls project'.

Sainsbury also recently presented a cheque for pounds150 to the winner of the graduates and students papers competition William Fraser - from Glasgow & West of Scotland - for his paper 'The mitigation of bridge strikes'.
