Cheeky Heron Tower workers recreate iconic image

Construction workers at London’s Heron Tower project have recreated one of the 20th century’s most iconic images of New York – the 1932 image Lunch Atop a Skyscraper.

Site worker Michael Crompton persuaded 11 friends to sit across a girder like the famously nonchalant New York steel workers, The Sun reported.

Crompton told The Sun that the workers took safety measures that were not in the original image. “Underneath our coats we all have harnesses and lanyards,” he said. “But it was almost -10°C out there on the 48th floor and a few of the lads were telling me to hurry up.”

Skanska is main contractor on the project.
