Binnie Black & Veatch is the latest company to become a patron of the charity Register for Engineers for Disaster Relief (RedR).
At a presentation last week at the ICE Douglas Smith of Binnie Black & Veatch received a certificate from RedR's President the Princess Royal to mark the occasion.
The princess said that RedR's patrons were essential to the charity as they can use their contacts to raise awareness of the charity's humanitarian aims.
'They are a key in the development of our organisation, ' she said.
RedR chairman Rod Alexander said that although most patrons were engineering consultants, telecoms company Cable & Wireless had become a patron to help improve RedR's global communications.
Firms pay RedR £4,000 a year for four years to become a patron.
