CERN facility at Geneva celebrate 50th anniversary

Thousands of visitors streamed through the European Organisation for Nuclear Research's CERN facility at Geneva last month to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the facility.

Work is just ending on new tunnels and three giant underground chambers on the main 30km underground circular tunnel at the facility, into which the new Large Hadron Collider is being installed. It begins operation in 2007.
