Cemex has £2.3bn offer for UK cement


Mexican materials giant Cemex has had a £2.3bn offer for UK cement, concrete and aggregate producer RMC accepted by the RMC board.

The takeover, if agreed by RMC shareholders and UK regulators, will add 19M. t/annum of cement capacity to Cemex's current 64.7M. t. Cemex is already the world's third largest cement producer, behind Lafarge and Holcim of Switzerland. RMC is the world's largest producer of ready mixed concrete.
