Celebrating Chek Lap Kok

ICE MEMBERS are treated to full details of the planning, design and construction of Hong Kong's Chek Lap Kok airport in a special issue (vol 128 no 5) of the ICE Civil Engineering journal.

Written by leading members of the Sino-British project team, the illustrated account tracks design and construction of the 1,248ha airport, which opened on time and within its £12bn budget last month.

Papers on the 34km road and rail link - including the Tsing Ma bridge and Western Harbour Tunnel - will be published in a second special issue of Civil Engineering in November.
