CBI calls for streamlined planning system

Business lobbyists CBI has called for the planning system to be streamlined ahead of the planning white paper, which is expected to be published next week.
The CBI considers reform of the planning system to be essential for the future growth of the economy. It also calld on government to set clear priorities of need, to help resolve planning disputes.'Full and open consultation is important on a crowded island, but the UK cannot afford delays of years that take projects back to square one,' said deputy director John Cridland. The CBI's comments come following an independent review of the housing supply system by Kate Barker published in March. The CBI largely supports her ecommendations on planning.
