The Homes & Communities Agency has named construction giant Carillion as its preferred partner to develop the £80M Tower Works mixed-used scheme in Leeds.
Carillion will begin construction work in January 2016 on Tower Works and is part of the Holbeck Urban Village regeneration project.
The plan is to turn the 1.04ha former factory site into a “mixed-use, sustainable community which balances high-quality and contemporary design with the existing heritage structures which occupy the site”. Carillion’s pitch included 92,000 sq ft of commercial office space, 20,000 sq ft of A1 and A3 retail restaurant and bar spaces and 147 residential units.
Carillion Developments development director said Gareth Jackson: “This is an excellent development site in Leeds City Centre which forms a key part of the Leeds City skyline. Our masterplan proposals respectfully emulate the urban grain of Holbeck Urban Village whilst delivering a unique place making proposition of spacious canal side residential accommodation and commercial office spaces supported by complementary café bars and restaurants in an exciting part of Leeds City Centre.”
