Carillion boss John McDonough to step down in 2012

Contractor Carillion today announced that chief executive John McDonough will retire in 2012 to be replaced by Richard Howson.

Howson, 42, is currently chief operating officer, has worked for Carillion for 16 years and previously managed the company’s Middle East business, which has performed strongly for the company in recent years.

The news comes as the firm announced underlying pre-tax profits had risen 10% in its interim results.
