One of the UK's largest and most diverse multidisciplinary consultancies, Capita Symonds operates across the design, management and infrastructure sectors. With more than 3,800 staff in over 40 UK offices, we have graduate opportunities across our civil, structural, highway, transport, environment, infrastructure and rail engineering teams.
The training, support and experience we offer will make a huge difference to your future. Graduates join a comprehensive and structured training programme that gives them the opportunity to move around the business and learn about the various disciplines.
Capita Symonds also supports its graduates in achieving chartered status in their chosen discipline. An experienced professional will act as your mentor while a programme of tailored seminars will enable you to share the knowledge of employees from across the business.
Our graduates are currently working towards professional qualifications with a variety of industry bodies including the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management; Geological Society of London; Institution of Civil Engineers; Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management; Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, Institution of Highways and Transportation; Institution of Structural Engineers; Royal Institute of British Architects; and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Capita Symonds' success relies on our staff's energy, enthusiasm and commitment, and the company is immensely proud of their performance and achievements. The firm promotes and rewards its people on merit and impact, not on time served and seniority. If you are an enthusiastic and dynamic student or graduate who would like to fast track your career then Capita Symonds would like to hear from you.

When Craig Jones graduated from Manchester University in 2001 with a BEng in civil engineering, he was unsure about his career direction. A year working for a steel section company in his hometown of Colwyn Bay clarified his ambition to be a bridge engineer. He then joined a company which, within 18 months, had become part of Capita Symonds, and has not looked back since.
"I started working on schemes within North Wales," explains Craig. "The chance to join a large highways scheme gave me the design experience I needed. Working in the design office for the A421 Great Barford Bypass, I was involved in the preliminary and detailed design for a number of bridges. I then got the chance to go onsite for nine months. This meant that I saw the entire project through from start to finish, which was a fantastic experience and a huge learning curve."
Now, back in the design office, Craig is following his ambition to become a bridge engineer, and is signed up to the Capita Symonds ICE-accredited graduate training programme. "They take training seriously here," he says. "It's really good Đ there is a structured course, they really look after us and really make sure we get the training we need."
"This is a big company, so they are keen to get everyone involved, keep us informed, and be part of the team. Capita Symonds is the best option Đ there is so much opportunity here what with all the different disciplines and divisions Đ not to mention the range of work. They are really supportive and will help you find the area where you really want to be."
