Capita starts Southamton flyovers scheme

Capita is to carry out major maintenance on two flyovers in Southampton over the next 10 weeks.

The firm began essential works on Redbridge and Millbrook flyovers yesterday.

It will refurbish the structures’ drainage systems and apply protective waterproofing coatings.

The work will be largely undertaken overnight, using lane closures between 8pm and 6am on one flyover at a time. It is part of a wider programme of roadworks in Southamton.

Councillor Jacqui Rayment said: “Key to all the current major highway work is the need to improve and enhance transport links into and around Southampton, which will support the future economic growth of our city.

“This is part of essential work to preserve important bridges and structures that brings thousands of drivers and goods vehicles into the city and the port every day. It is vital that we maintain these vital routes into Southampton city centre, for residents, businesses, workers and visitors.”
