Capita boosts ATM with MMB acquisition

Consultant Capita Symonds has announced the acquisition of Active Traffic Management specialists MMB Associates for an undisclosed sum.

MMB employs 60 in Corsham and Reigate, and has develops ‘Intelligent Transport Systems’ (ITS) on the UK motorway and trunk road network. The addition will bring Capita’s ITS division to 160.

Capita Symonds’ executive director for infrastructure, John Southgate said MMB has: “Proven expertise and track record has influenced many of today’s ITS solutions and this acquisition further strengthens our position as a leading transport technology consultancy.”

Recent project include:

  • M20 Controlled Motorways
  • Southwick Tunnel technology upgrade
  • Highways Agency’s Technology Design Framework;
  • Network Operations Audit of Contract Compliance (NOACC) contract for the Highways Agency;
  • Facilitator and secretariat for the Detector Technology Steering Group

MMB Managing Director Mike Mackinnon said: “Under the Capita Symonds name, we will now be able to offer a wider range of services to our clients and more opportunities for our staff to flourish and develop their careers.”
