Call for papers


International symposium on geotechnical engineering, ground improvement and geosynthetics for human security and environmental preservation 6-7 December, Miracle Grand Convention Centre, Bangkok, Thailand.

Symposium organised by the Southeast Asian Geotechnical Society, International Geosynthetic Society Thailand and the Asian Centre for Soil Improvement and Geosynthetics.

Technical papers are welcome. Topics include natural disasters (tsunami, earthquake, landslide, typhoons, coastal and riverbank erosions); mitigation (early warning and prediction system for tsunami, earthquakes and landslides, protection works); risk analysis (hazard mapping, consequence evaluation); rehabilitation and reconstruction (difcult soils, ground treatment, design against earthquake and other natural disasters); as well as soil dynamics, liquefaction, stability and movement and environmental protection.

2nd BGA International conference on foundations 24-27 June 2008, University of Dundee.

Sessions will be chaired by internationally recognised academics and industrialists. Submissions on the following are welcome: offshore foundations; soil structure and interaction; shallow and deep foundation design and performance; geohazards and foundation performance in the extreme; sustainable foundations; numerical and analytical modelling of foundations; physical modelling of foundation behaviour; specialised site investigation for foundation design; retaining structures and deep excavations. Deadline for submissions is 1 June.
