Call for nominations

17th Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference 20-22 July 2006, Zagreb, Croatia.

BGA members who will be under 35 years old on 20 July 2006 are invited to apply for sponsorship to attend this conference.

A single place is available, one already having been awarded to the winner of this year's Cooling Prize.

The aim of the annual conference is to bring together young geotechnical engineers from European countries to exchange experience by presenting their work in a written paper and a short lecture. Five prominent geotechnical experts will also give lectures, and there is a technical visit and a full social programme.

There is no particular theme to the conference, but papers must fall under the broad category of geotechnical engineering.

Applicants should send a short abstract and a brief note of what they would gain from attending the conference. The total submission should not exceed one sheet of A4 and should be sent to Janice Leung at the BGA, email: bga@ice. org. uk; tel: 020 7665 2233 by 10 April. The winner will be notied by the end of April.
